sunday shopping spree. coats. May 10, 2009

It’s that day of the week again! I love the Sunday Shopping Spree because it gives me an excuse (even more than this blog gives me) to hunt for cute things that fit a theme. Yay! Okay, this week, I found nine different coats for you, dear reader, from five different retailers. Rejoice in the coat! Yes, I realize that it is very nearly summer, but you could always buy these coats in preparation for winter. Right? Right! On to these lovelies, in ascending price order:

CHOCOLATE

twill self belt jacket.

Well, considering the name has “jacket” in it, you can guess that it is not really a coat but is quite cute nonetheless. This, um, jacket is $22.50 here at Wet Seal and comes in three colors: chocolate (or brown, which is pictured above), khaki, and white. You can buy khaki or white in sizes small, medium, and large and chocolate in small.

houndstooth wool swing jacket.

Yeah, yeah. I realize that this one also has “jacket” in the name. Whatever. It’s adorable. I love swing jackets. So there. If you want this cute thing, go here to Forever21, where it is $29.80 (again, with their weird prices). The site only carries this one color, in sizes medium and large. Very retro. Also, it probably won’t keep you warm. Just saying…

Wuthering Heights Jacket

This next one definitely won’t keep you warm and is called a jacket, as well. And looking down the list of things to post, only one item is actually called a coat. Maybe I should have called this Sunday Shopping Spree “Jackets,” instead? Oh, well. I don’t really care to change it. Moving on! I love the name for this piece: Wuthering Heights Jacket. I hated the book, but the name calls up images of romanticism, which is also true for this jacket. Just look at. Super cute. Buy it here, at Modcloth, for $47.99 in sizes small, medium, or large.

Fawn Brown Canvas Bib Jacket by Tulle Clothing

fawn brown canvas bib jacket.

Yes, another jacket, under the guise of “Coats.” I hate you all. Anyway, this deer-colored (Get it? Fawn? I crack myself up.) jacket is quite nice, and you can find it here, at Plasticland for the not quite so nice price of $56. The site says that the jacket tends to run small, so check out their size chart before you buy. This jacket comes in sizes extra small to extra large, so availability shouldn’t hold you back.

Green Cord Cropped Swing Jacket by Tulle Clothing

green cord cropped swing jacket.

Oh, my goodness, another swing jacket! How did that get there? The swing jacket fairy must have dropped it here… It would be a shame not to tell you where to find it, now wouldn’t it? Yes. Of course. So… buy it here, also at Plasticland, in this gorgeous green color that comes in sizes extra small to medium. Once again, the site says that this item runs small, so I’m sorry for those readers who wear larger than a medium. Feel lucky, though, that you don’t have to spend $59 on this swing jacket and go buy that houndstooth one.

in the city jacket.

Okay, so even though this caption says, “jacket,” it really means “coat.” Look at it. It’s obviously a coat, right? Right. If you want to buy this misnamed black coat, get it here, at Cutimus for $68 in small, medium, or large. Look at all those buttons… and the bell-like sleeves… and the sash… Le sigh.

Polka Dot Retro Cropped Jacket by Tulle Clothing

polka dot retro cropped jacket.

Fine, this one deserves the jacket name, but I swear it’s the last one in the list that is a jacket and not a coat. Does that make you feel better, dear readers? I hope so. Buy this adorable polka-dotted charcoal jacket here at Plasticland for $86. You can get it in sizes extra small to large, which should be true to size.

Magical Mystery Tour Coat

magical mystery tour coat.

Finally! The one true coat in the list. I know you’ve been waiting for it, and isn’t it gorgeous? Look at that magnificent color! It’s almost blinding how purple this Magical Mystery Tour Coat is. The name even goes with the color, doesn’t it? Buy it here, at ModCloth, in sizes extra-small to large, for the magical price of $99.99. Maybe all those nines are somehow special and mysterious? In the my-money-is-gone-before-I-knew-it kind of way.

Notre Dame Bell Trench

notre dame bell trench.

Lastly, a coat that is called a trench. Oh, well. It has a pretty, retro feel to it, and you can buy it here at ModCloth for $104.99, which will remind you of Notre Dame and why you didn’t go there in the first place. Private schools are so expensive… This coat comes in sizes extra small to large and is definitely worthy of that bow.
