I… dislike this dress. I don’t particularly like the pattern or the colors, and I think that the contrasting fibers overwhelm the simple design.

Okay, I know that some of you will disagree with my choice today. It’s not quite as terrible as many other things out there, but I think it’s damn ugly. I find this bag garish and unnecessary.

I’m pretty sure that I made that word up, “un-girly.” Oh, well. That’s what this blog is all about: making up shit. It’s what I do. Actually, I have no idea what I’m typing right now, so I’m just going to stop. This week, I found five different accessories that girly-girls would probably not wear, but I like them anyway. In ascending order, here they are:

First up is this hilarious, quirky, adorable coin-eating monster coin purse. Sure, it’s not girly, but it’s completely unexpected, and you will get the craziest reactions from people, I think. Such as, “What the fuck is that?” and “You’re fucking weird, man…” Priceless. Except not really because it costs $6.50 (almost priceless) here, at Plasticland.

pinstripe fedora.

Papaya is selling this great fedora in a versatile grey, and you can buy it here, for their sale price of $7.99. How many girly chicks do you know who wear hats?! Yes, I just made a generalization, and yes, I’m being sarcastic in order to make up for the fact that I couldn’t think of anything witty to say about this piece. Thank you.

I think this ring is beyond cool, but octopi are definitely not know for being a girl’s best friend. At least, I don’t think they are… Regardless, if the thought of those little legs on your finger and this octopus adoringly looking up at you make you smile instead of shudder, pick on up here, at ModCloth, for $7.99. He (doesn’t it look like a he?) comes in antique gold (which looks like brass) and this silver, and ModCloth also sells a cuff and necklace.

Finally, this necklace that may remind you of your grandpa. It looks pretty vintage and can probably be used in a girly outfit, but because it has a goose on it, I labeled as un-girly. I use totes all the time, especially for school. They’re great to carry notebooks and pens and any other school supply you can think of (that will fit in a tote… It’s hard to carry a three-hole puncher in one of those things, let me tell you.) to class.

So… another feature is born! I decided that I have way too many clothes in the backlogs of my bookmarks for this blog, so the easiest way to get rid of them quicker is to post them en masse. Every friday, I will post three different outfits that I have put together from the three categories that I use most: under $20, under $40, and under $1000. Each piece in the outfit will reflect the category, for you, the discerning shopper. This week, I decided to put together a combination of a graphic tee, a buttoned vest, shorts, a necklace, and shoes that matched the shirt. I would definitely wear each outfit, so decide your budget… I hope you like the outfits!

Those gorgeously-colored shoes… Get them here, at Forever21. They are $18.80 and come in sizes 6 through 9, with no half sizes in between.

All of the items above are less than $40. I know that this outfit, with its wide range of purples, will not appeal to everyone, but I absolutely love the top that I chose for it. All of the items pictured are priced less than $1000. Like the outfits before this one, I love this shirt, as well. Look at that gorgeous plum color! And that crazy-ass dog! Fascinating… I think the white vest really makes it pop out at you, too. So… get it here, at Bluefly. For $69, you can get it in sizes extra small to extra large so that you, too, can have a sequined dog on your chest. Next, the white vest, which you can buy at Urban Outfitters, here. Okay, I admit it. I’m obsessed. Only this time it’s peacock feathers. You know, to add to my list of keys, bows, ruffles, dresses, skulls, plaid, buttons… OH GOD I AM OBSESSED WITH EVERYTHING. Excuse me while I go cry in the corner. …I’m back! This shirt has quite a few things going for it. First off, the, um, peacock feather print (which we’ve already established, as you may know.), which is well-placed and not boring at all. Second, is the style: this type of halter is one of my favorites, but if you have broad shoulders, you may want to hold off on buying it, if you dislike making them look bigger. If not, buy away! Third, the color is gorgeous and quite versatile. This shirt would go well with nice black pants, like on the mannequin, or even a high-waisted skirt to make it interesting.

clear goldfish motif umbrella. very unique. May 11, 2009

I love those clear umbrellas that kind of wrap around you so that you can be inside a protective bubble of sorts. I want one. This one would be absolutely perfect because it has fish on it. I love fish. So it is doubly exciting for me. The weather changes a lot where I live, so I think this umbrella would be perfect to carry around and get that non-wet feeling.
