long heart charm necklace. understated but charming. June 19, 2009

So… do you remember when I made some image changes so that I was able to provide you dear readers with Fashion Friday last week? Well, even though it was easier, it still wasn’t easy enough, so I’m back to just posting one piece on Fridays. Sorry! But let’s move on! Remember that key necklace I posted a whole month ago (wow…), this necklace is that one’s long-lost cousin. And if you put both of them together, you can say that you have the key to many hearts! Yes, I know. My jokes are lame. Did you happen to notice the one in the title? Get it–charming? God, I make myself sick. Back to the necklace. I would love to wear it with simple, flowy dress and some sandals. I think it has a sort of casual, not-trying-too-hard vibe to it.

Express is selling it for $26.50, here, and I think they’re having some sort of sale on jewelry… Maybe you should go check that out, too? Helpful suggestion.

thrifty thursday. un-girly accessories. June 18, 2009

I’m pretty sure that I made that word up, “un-girly.” Oh, well. That’s what this blog is all about: making up shit. It’s what I do. Actually, I have no idea what I’m typing right now, so I’m just going to stop. This week, I found five different accessories that girly-girls would probably not wear, but I like them anyway. In ascending order, here they are:

Coinbeast Coin Purse by Blue Q

coinbeast coin purse by blue q.

First up is this hilarious, quirky, adorable coin-eating monster coin purse. Sure, it’s not girly, but it’s completely unexpected, and you will get the craziest reactions from people, I think. Such as, “What the fuck is that?” and “You’re fucking weird, man…” Priceless. Except not really because it costs $6.50 (almost priceless) here, at Plasticland.

pinstripe fedora.

Papaya is selling this great fedora in a versatile grey, and you can buy it here, for their sale price of $7.99. How many girly chicks do you know who wear hats?! Yes, I just made a generalization, and yes, I’m being sarcastic in order to make up for the fact that I couldn’t think of anything witty to say about this piece. Thank you.

My Pet Octopus Ring

my pet octopus ring.

I think this ring is beyond cool, but octopi are definitely not know for being a girl’s best friend. At least, I don’t think they are… Regardless, if the thought of those little legs on your finger and this octopus adoringly looking up at you make you smile instead of shudder, pick on up here, at ModCloth, for $7.99. He (doesn’t it look like a he?) comes in antique gold (which looks like brass) and this silver, and ModCloth also sells a cuff and necklace.

gun grenade charm necklace

To me, guns are a bad-ass accessory, but I know that a lot of people don’t like them. But! A fake gun on a necklace will do nobody any harm. So get yours here, at Hot Topic, where they’re selling it for $12.

Wild Goose Pocket Watch Necklace in Brushed Brass

wild goose pocket watch necklace in brushed brass.

Finally, this necklace that may remind you of your grandpa. It looks pretty vintage and can probably be used in a girly outfit, but because it has a goose on it, I labeled as un-girly. Stereotypical, I know. Anyway, get this gorgeous thing here, at Lulu*s, for $19, where I just make it under the $20 mark. Yay!

thrifty thursday. cute flats. June 11, 2009

Today for your thrifty pleasure, I have five nice pairs of flats, which are all under $20. I love flats. For one, they are very comfortable (well, only if you actually buy comfortable ones…) and can look both casual and dressy. Ah, the wonders of the modern shoe! Anyway, here they are, ascending price order:

Max Rave - Women's Bow Flats

max rave - women's bow flats.

First off are these super cute (and super cheap) bow-featuring, heart-printed (on the inside, at least) lovelies. Which you can find these pink ones here, at Walmart, for $13. They come in four different colors, though: the already-mentioned pink (sizes 6 and 7 to 9.5), blue (sizes 7, 8, and 9), gold (sizes 6 and 8), and black (sizes 6 and 7 to 9). Why, yes (I do love parentheses).

These ones look so damn comfortable! Can’t you imagine slipping them on and feeling better about the day ahead because at least your shoes won’t hurt you? Or is that too depressing? Regardless, these shoes would probably make someone ridiculously happy. They come in sizes 5 to 10 and 11, and you can get them here, at Target. That happiness will cost you $17.99, though.

SILVER

mary jane ballet flat.

I really like that strap across the middle of these shoes. It reminds me of the kinds of shoes that dolls wear, which I find adorable. Hopefully, you do, too. Find them here, at Wet Seal, for $18.50. They come in this silver and a nice black, and the sizes available include 6 to 9 and 10.

jenny sequin ballet flats.

Okay, I understand that many people may not like the dazzling shoes that lay here before them, but hear me out: um, yeah, I don’t really have an excuse. Never mind, then. Get them here, at Target if they don’t scare you. For $18.80, you can choose from sizes 6 to 10 (with no half sizes in between) in this great gold color.

patent cut out flats.

Lastly, I have these interesting and dressy flats from Charlotte Russe. They remind me of summer and garden parties. Want some of that in your life? Buy them here for $18.99, in colors white, black, and yellow. They come in sizes 6 to 10 (once again, with no half sizes in between). Go forth and prosper in shoes.

fashion friday. graphic tee, vest, shorts, and necklace. May 22, 2009

So… another feature is born! I decided that I have way too many clothes in the backlogs of my bookmarks for this blog, so the easiest way to get rid of them quicker is to post them en masse. Every friday, I will post three different outfits that I have put together from the three categories that I use most: under $20, under $40, and under $1000. Each piece in the outfit will reflect the category, for you, the discerning shopper. This week, I decided to put together a combination of a graphic tee, a buttoned vest, shorts, a necklace, and shoes that matched the shirt. I would definitely wear each outfit, so decide your budget… I hope you like the outfits!

kadjkfajdaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa All of the items above are less than $20. I really like how this outfit turned out. I don’t think that it’s too matchy-matchy at all, but maybe you’ll disagree…? You can find the tee (yes, I know “embellished” is spelled wrong, but I just wrote what Wet Seal had on their website. Pathetic…) at Wet Seal, here, for $12.90, in sizes extra small to large. The vest is from Windsor, for $13.98, here. It comes in sizes petite (which, I believe, is smaller than small) to large. Regardless of the picture, it is in black. The necklace comes from Forever21, here, for $7.80. The shorts are from Charlotte Russe. Buy them here for $16.99, in sizes 1 through 13. Lastly, the shoes. Those gorgeously-colored shoes… Get them here, at Forever21. They are $18.80 and come in sizes 6 through 9, with no half sizes in between.

All of the items above are less than $40. I know that this outfit, with its wide range of purples, will not appeal to everyone, but I absolutely love the top that I chose for it. Skulls = my obsession, remember? Of course you do… Well, to recreate this outfit, buy it here, at Plasticland for $25. The shirt comes in sizes small, medium, and large. Next, the vest can found here, at ModCloth for $34.99 and also comes in sizes small, medium, and large. The necklace you should buy is the “mist” color (it’s actually white.) for $20, here at Plasticland. Those cute shorts can be found at LuLu*s for $24, here, in sizes 0 and 3 to 11. Finally, those cute shoes! Don’t they really remind you of the Jetsons for which they’re named? Grab them at ModCloth for $34.99, here, in sizes 6 through 10, with no half sizes available.

All of the items pictured are priced less than $1000. Like the outfits before this one, I love this shirt, as well. Look at that gorgeous plum color! And that crazy-ass dog! Fascinating… I think the white vest really makes it pop out at you, too. So… get it here, at Bluefly. For $69, you can get it in sizes extra small to extra large so that you, too, can have a sequined dog on your chest. Next, the white vest, which you can buy at Urban Outfitters, here. It comes in sizes extra small to large, for $48. The necklace, which I also adore, is $135 at Bluefly, here. Those black shorts are available in sizes 24 to 32 for $133 at Shopbop, here. Last, the shiny shoes are also from Shopbop, here, on sale for $227.50 (An odd number, I know. Are they taking tips from Forever21?). They are available in sizes 5.5 to 9 and 10.

Well, that’s it, dear readers! I hope you enjoyed my new feature, and look forward to next week’s equally fun outfits!

assorted keys necklace. how practical. May 19, 2009

Well, not really. None of these keys will actually fit into any lock you may try (although you never know…), but it is quite pretty nonetheless. I have an obsession with key necklaces, even though I do not own one as of right now. I wonder why that is, actually…? I must amend that immediately! Anyway, while I’m doing that, look at this pretty thing:

so many keys but nothing to unlock...

If you like the impracticality of keys around your neck, buy this necklace here at Forever21. Maybe you’ll find an equally impractical lock accessory to match.

enchanted seeds bracelet. absolutely stunning. May 9, 2009

I am not really one for bracelets, unless they look special and unique, so it probably comes as no surprise that this bracelet is definitely both of those. I can imagine it with a white ruffled shirt or dress, but other than that, I’m not really sure what exactly I would pair with this magnificent bracelet.

feminine and ethereal.

Also, the price is pretty steep, so I’m not really sure if I should be imagining it with anything right now. Because I cannot afford it. If $298 is paltry change for you, feel free to get it here, at Anthropologie, where all my fledgling dreams are crushed.

treasure trove charm bracelet. no pirates, though. May 4, 2009

And also no treasure chest, sadly. Oh, well. This bracelet really is treasure enough. I love bracelets that have a bunch of crap on them. Especially pretty crap, like this one. I would wear this with either a white or black dress and no other jewelry, since the bracelet already makes quite a statement. If you really can’t live without more pieces, though, a simple gold or silver necklace would also probably work with the outfit.

Treasure Trove Charm Bracelet

The colors in this bracelet are pretty exquisite. Buy it here from LuLu*s for only $13. It only comes in silver, but you definitely won’t regret it.
